I’m not going to lie, full auto fire is fun. Burst is a blast as well. In this regard, the gov’t has won – I refuse to jump through the hoops needed to get any sort of NFA item, including cans or auto weaponry. Every time I think about getting a suppressor, I get frustrated at the crap I’d have to go through PLUS pay $600+ for a $20 part and, should I want another for a different firearm, I’d have to set up the entire dog and pony show yet again and give up. Toss in the fact that if I don’t set up the correct trust / paperwork that my wife would be a felon for having access to the safe and it’s just too much hassle for me to bother with. The regulations on full-auto, as we all know, are complete bunkum. I’d prefer George Washington Mercury Lincoln Continental Jr. the Third ventilate the ceiling tiles while trying to dump a full mag in the course of his robbery, personally. Regardless, full auto is not a vehicle for crime but pointing this out to the illogical amongst us.

Now, public safety is the normal line trotted out why autos need to be so regulated, but the unintended consequences is that people resort to bump fire to get their full-auto on. Watching this video posted by Caleb, I am reminded why I hate bump fire. Notice how the firing stutters. Now, that’s using a fancy stock, but of course hooking your finger through a belt loop can also be used for the same results. Which results in less aiming and more spraying, which results in less safety.

Granted, we all know it has nothing to do with public safety. Instead we come up with creative workarounds that end up doing pretty much the same thing and somehow society doesn’t fall apart from all the death and mayhem. Go figure.
