The other day the Mrs. and I took the little ones to Sunny’s, the fastfood of BBQ. While we were there, two police officers (sheriffs) came in and had dinner. I noticed that I was better armed than either of them since their holsters were noticeably empty.

Now both of them were very young, but they had plenty of medals and stuff to lead me to believe they weren’t cadets, but I just found it odd that two police officers would, either through policy or choice, be disarmed.

Odd.

At least I had their backs!

That is strange. I once said in the forum that if I had USSS or FBI badges where my right to carry would never be questioned by any authority I'd install a hook in my shower to hang my carry gun! :)

I've specifically armed up to go grab a bite to eat. The idea of disarming for such an activity seems very foolish.

Especially the question goes "Where were their guns?" My holster is vastly more protected than my car.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the deputies were in corrections and on a food break. In many (most?) correctional facilities, sidearms are disallowed due to security concerns. It's possible these two simply went out for a bite and didn't bother taking their weapons out of lockup.

They wear the empty holsters because they have different duties on different days and it's a hassle to take a holster on and off a utility belt. I'd bet they definitely had their tasers, though.

Nope, didn't see any tasers. If they had OC on 'em, they were the small canisters.

Maybe the deputies left them on the TP roll in the bathroom.
