Normally, I’d have posts lined up from the weekend. Alas, I worked all day Saturday and Sunday (along with a couple of 10 hour days from the previous week). The new job has me on an application that needs to be done by Friday, and I’m allowed to work as much as I need to to get it done. When life hands you unlimited overtime, you forgo things like ‘sleep’, ‘family’ and ‘adequate personal hygiene’ to make an extra buck.
Speaking of, my former employer contacted me about fixing a problem they’re having. I was let go because of finances and nothing personal or related to job performance and I’m pretty sure I know exactly what the problem they’re experiencing is. Something that employers have to consider beyond just compensation is that employees have internal knowledge that leaves with them. I don’t know if they wiped my PC or not (probably since it had all kinds of Oleg Volk images for wallpaper) but sadly I had a small script on there that would have fixed everything in a jiffy. Without that, it’s going to be a day’s worth of work. The discussed compensation makes it worthwhile.
