My name is Robb Allen. Robb is short for Robert, by the way (the extra B comes from when I switched from Robbie). I live in the Tampa area and about .03 seconds worth of searching and you can probably get my address, phone number, etc.

I’ve been blogging under my real name since I started, and have owned robballen.com since ‘96 IIRC.

So, to the anti-gun bigots out there that are getting their jollies off revealing the names of gun bloggers (most of which have already revealed their names anyway), you can ‘out’ me all you want. You’re probably not smart enough to do it though.

As for my views on it, I think it’s a dick move and shows a level of childishness. However, you’re not anonymous. Period. If you’re on the Interweb Tubes and you think you can forever hide behind a nickname, I’ve got bad news for you. If you don’t want your identity revealed, then don’t blog and especially don’t blog about contentious topics. Chances are, you’re not important enough to warrant someone going after you, but as recent postings show, that’s not always the case. Get under someone’s skin enough and they will try it.

I'm more amused by the whole thing than anything. I don't think any of the people they "outed" really go to great lengths to hide their identity.

hard to see it as anything but a direct threat of some sort.

That being said, besides us getting intimidated and going away, I don't know where this goes outside of Schoolyard bully annoyance.

Granted, I don't really do much blogging, because I can't think of anything I'd have to say that you guys don't already cover better anyway. But if someone wanted to figure out who I was, it wouldn't be that hard. Hell, my "alias" on the blogs (which stems from my gaming days) is part of the web address for my Flickr and Facebook pages.

So yeah, big secret identity I have there.

The funny part is though I post using a nick if someone called me on it they might be at risk. My primary use for a nick is to see where spam comes from.

I've been there and had it done to me before and i know one little thing. I can't be intimidated, harassed, or silenced. I am patient and have the will to see "what comes around, goes back around". I learned that those that do net stupidity are likely to suffer for their acts and it is foolish on their part.

There are real threats out there and they aren't it.

No worries - after my experiences with the stalkerish behavior exhibited by JadeGold in the past, I knew this was coming. This is a pretty standard tactic for anti-rights cultists when they realize they are losing a debate, and the only chance they have of salvaging any face whatsoever is to get the other side to simply shut up and stop shooting down their idiotic nonsense. Unfortunately for them, that thing Eleanor Roosevelt said about inferiority also applies to fear and intimidation, and given that we are doing the right thing by standing up for our rights and defending those rights against anyone who would infringe on them... well, that kind of steals any thunder their intimidation might otherwise have.

The sad thing is that I have linked to my book (buy it!) for somewhere around four years now, with my name right there on the cover, so it is not exactly like I was trying to hide my secret identity or something... No, at this point, what gets me is the endless stream of libel they seem to have no problems levying against pro-rights webloggers. Unfortunately, I fear none of it is quite actionable at the moment, so they will just keep on doing it...

I don't blog much about guns myself (there are so many who know so much more), but I've commented on just about every gun blog between here and Sipsey Street inclusive. That ought to be good for something. :-)
