Apparently, that’s the new term for a metal cylinder with internal mechanisms to reduce the sound of expanding gas by slowing it down.
We face a war of words. When they can’t get people to accept that “GUNZ ARE MOAR BAD!”, they’ll start changing the terms. Instead of a safety device (like a muffler for your car, which provides safety for your ears), they’ll call it a weapon of mass destruction and death. Which, regardless of how you feel about firearms, is a complete and utter lie.
I don’t think you could do much damage with a suppressor . Possibly, if you swung it hard enough, you might be able to cause a contusion or two, but there’s nothing massive or deathly about a chamber meant to slow down escaping gas. This is part of why I argue against trying to define the part of a firearm that makes it a ‘gun’. When you allow people to make arbitrary distinctions like that, they start labeling other parts in ways like this. I mean, if a receiver is actually a gun, then it’s just as logical to say a suppressor is a death spewing mechanical demon.
The war on parts is going well and sadly, we’re on the losing side.
