Bill Quick alerts us to an insider’s look at how our government views people like me

These federal trainers describe the dangers of “extremists” and “militia groups” roaming the community and hiding in plain sight, ready to attack. Officers are instructed how to recognize these domestic terrorists by their behavior, views and common characteristics. State data bases are kept to track suspected domestic terrorists and officers are instructed on reporting procedures to state and federal agencies. The state I work in, like many others, have what is known as a “fusion center” that compiles a watch list of suspicious people.

So how does a person qualify as a potential domestic terrorist? Based on the training I have attended, here are characteristics that qualify:

* Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
* Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
* Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots” and “One Second After” are mentioned by name)
* Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
* Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
* Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
* Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
* Homeschooling
* Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
* Belief in a New World Order conspiracy

Lessee here…. Check, check, check, not-check-but-should-check, check, religious but not worrying about that so I’m safe there, SUPER check, wish I could check, ULTRA check, and somewhat check although my beliefs aren’t centered around the Illuminati or Bilderbergers or anything.

Well, I’m screwed. How about you?

The saddest thing are the so-called ‘liberals’ who raise hue and cry about us incarcerating real threats to the country but suddenly forget the liberty part of liberal when it comes to someone who doesn’t share their world view. Almost as bad are the ‘conservatives’ who gladly hand over their freedom (and yours) for a false sense of security.

So, I’m considered a ‘domestic terrorist’, eh? My entire world view can be summed up as “Leave me the fuck alone and I’ll leave you alone”. That means you want to marry your dog and your cactus while snorting a few lines of Crystal Drano and using Chick tracts to wipe your nether-regions, so be it. You want to donate all your time and money to save the Norwegian Tree Sloth and live in a grass hut eating only organic fruit and seeds, you won’t get even the slightest rise out of me. Hell, you can preach your lifestyle to anyone who will listen and I will still leave you alone.

But somehow, the desire to live my life as a free man means I’m going to ‘terrorize’ the rest of my fellow citizens? What kind of fucked up logic is that? I’m the least harmful type of person to the citizenry. What I am a danger to are those who have decided to rule us. My ideas, being right, cannot be argued against using logic, so fear and emotion are pushed to marginalize me. Sadly, it just might work. Enough people live in the dark and have done so for so long that the light is painful to them and they will do whatever it takes to shut it out.

Interesting times we live in. Luckily, I still believe that when it all collapses, the very types of people who are being labeled domestic terrorists will be the ones to survive and keep this country running.
