That “I’m a gun owner but” guy from a few days ago?
If you look for a gunsmith named Charles Ford, you won’t find much
I have searched all gunsmiths in the Portland area that hold an FFL and I don't find any "Charles Ford". I have also Googled Mr. Ford and again, I don't find any gunsmith in Portland by the name of "Charles Ford". Finally, I asked the members of the Oregon Hometown Forum on ar15.com if anyone had ever heard of a gunsmith in the Portland area by this name. No luck there either.
The author of that letter wasn’t a gunsmith. I’d bet a few dollars on ‘Charles Ford’ not even being a gun owner.
Now, in the comments to my previous post on the topic, commenter Ken came up with this gem
As a former peace marcher, head shop owner, member of the Brady Campaign, and gun store protester, I see no reason why we shouldn't have constitutional carry in all 50 states, eliminate the National Firearms Act, Gun Control Act, and Brady Bill, overrule all state gun laws as violations of the 2nd Amendment, and make Samuel Colt's birthday a national holiday.
Funny as that is, we don’t see that. I don’t see many posts, opinion pieces, or articles that start off with “I’m a gun banner but…”, do you? I think the reason is because gun owners know they’re right and don’t need to hide behind the identity of someone else to try to con others into believing them. The truth tends to be self evident and we do not need to appeal to authority to make it so.
Gun banners? They do. They know their brand stinks, so they coopt an identity in order to peddle their wares, hoping that being sold lies by a ‘gun owner’ is more palatable to people.
