Wind is a fallacy. I've yet to see a success story. Where it's somewhat feasible, the NIMBY principle kicks in.

Solar is an excellent source for additional power. Ain't gonna replace your energy needs, but there's not much of a reason to forgo something that can lower your bill. If you're in an area where you can recuperate your costs of installation and repair quickly, then go for it. I keep hearing reports about cheaper panels, but I've yet to see those hit the market.

We need more nuke plants. Big time.

It's only a fallacy for the people that are dumb enough to think it can replace everything else. It not an either / or thing. Nuclear is good too. I can see the steam from our reactor from where I live :)

Actually, Texas has an absolutely amazing amount of wind power, with ranchers and farmers able to earn quite a bit of spare change with turbines. If you'd care for a link, here you go: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11837896

As for more nuke and cheaper solar, I have no disagreement with you. Personally, I'd love to see when they get the U-233 plants online, but they haven't fully figured out the thorium cycle yet. What I'd really like to see is recycling of fuel in this country.

I can understand why people would fear nuclear power. Compared to coal and oil fired power plants, the consequences of a major accident are much higher. However, the nuclear plants in Japan that are pretty old, one of them was on it's very last set of fuel rods before being de-commissioned. The fact that a HUGE earthquake, AND a 30' tsunami wave didn't just flatten the entire site to the ground is a testimate to just how robust these things are built. A nuclear power plant built today has 40 years of technological improvement on these older models, AND this disaster to learn from.

Add re-breader technology to that and you don't even have nuclear waste as an issue anymore.

We buy vast amounts of oil from those who hate us and want us all dead. Where is the logic in that?

The time for Nuclear Power NOW!
