Looks like a solid majority approve of SB 234
Two recent surveys of likely voters living in north Florida find strong support for Senate Bill 234. Voters surveyed in the north central Florida counties that comprise state senate district 3 favor the measure by a wide margin (58%-14%). The bill also draws approval by a larger margin (62%-12%) in the northwest Florida counties that make up state senate districts 2 & 4.
Support among males came in around 78%. (PDF of the reports can be found here and here)
Now, broken down the vast majority of people, men and women, support concealed carry while a large plurality support Open Carry. It’s natural for support to be low on something that isn’t common, but 62% support for OC isn’t low and as more people become used to it, those numbers will rise.
Also, look at the numbers. 58% said yes, only 14% said no (the rest are undecided or need more information). Those who oppose this are in a very, very, very small minority. The good thing about people who don’t like Open Carry is that they’re not being forced to do so. They can make the choice to not carry a pistol, openly or concealed! We all win!
