Since the saddle for the Drama Llama is so comfortable from getting rather broken in, let’s continue this ride.
What you reap, you shall sow - From Say Uncle
Library takes out restraining order against OC activists. And intends to sue.
This is what happens when you’re a jerk. Now, I’m not 100% convinced that the complaints are true. As gun owners, we know we can be as polite as can be and still have people say “They were very threatening to others”, but honestly, when someone asks you to leave, you leave. And when your state already has Open Carry, what benefit does it provide you to flaunt it?
I am not 100% aware of how this particular library system is set up as far as being gov’t run or whatnot and I don’t know if Michigan has any sort of preemption or not, so I cannot speak fully on the matter, but if half of this is correct, sitting around in the children’s section with a shotgun is a poor way to make a point, and if you are repeatedly asked to leave and not do action X and you repeatedly come back specifically to do action X, you’re asking for trouble. And a subpoena. Which you just got served with.
And yes, it does make other people look bad because too many people are not bright enough to realize the actions of one group do not necessarily reflect those of the rest.
Now, again this whole thing is being blown out of proportion by people (like me) who keep bringing it up. Had none of us said much more than “What a bunch of maroons”, it’d probably not be weighted as heavily in the search engines and would be lucky to see a mention above the obituaries in the local fish wrap. In fact, people who claim that this is harming the movement and giving the anti’s more ammunition tend to forget people put in bills to prevent gun rights from being exercised all the time with no provocation whatever. I agree however that stunts like this often give the other side a ‘free kick’. Sucks, but what can one do that prevents the jerks from being jerks without infringing on one’s own rights at the same time?
People abuse the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom of assembly, and the freedom to not self incriminate all the time. It’s simply part of how freedom works. Nothing wrong with calling them out on it either.
