For those living under a rock, TJIC is a Massachusetts blogger who posted a fairly offensive post regarding the Giffords shooting. Now, I’ve said some pretty harsh things regarding politicians that involved ropes, trees, and various assembly methods. I’ve mentioned that I hope certain individuals ‘die in a fire’. Pretty much, it was hyperbole as I am sure TJIC’s post was as well, just without a lot of tact.
Regardless of how I personally feel about the content of his post, the fact that someone else’s offense was all it took to make a call which resulted in the cops showing up at his door to take his personal property without a charge of criminal activity is enough to boil my blood.
I hate the Klan, but to say that the Grand Master Kleenex (or whatever they call the head pointy hatted shmuck who runs the thing) should have his property forcefully removed simply because of his statements goes completely against the First Amendment.
Now, there will be some of you who chime in with “But he threatened blah blah blah”. No, he didn’t. And even if he were to say “We should kill all the politicians”, that’s not an actionable event (standing on the politician’s doorstep working an angry mob is).
I feel no need to apologize for TJIC’s words as I didn’t utter them. Part of being an individualist is that I don’t have to blame myself for other people’s actions. I didn’t care for the post, but honestly it wasn’t much more than “The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers”. That the government can deny a person’s rights on a whim should scare every last person in this country, even the anti-gun group. It’s not a stretch from “we can take your property at will with no charges or trial” to “we can imprison you in the same manner”.
I am TJIC.
