Most of the common terms - clip, magazine, automatic, semi-automatic, fully automatic, etc. - are listed and defined (correctly, in my opinion) in the AP Stylebook.

As soon as I got mine last year for the journalism class I was taking at Pima CC, I turned to the Weapons section in the glossary to see what was listed.

Journalists have no real excuse for getting the terms wrong.

It's still fail. Most accounts I read say he had a 31 round clip. So maybe throw a loose round on the table too.
