Reading through the NY Daily News’ coverage of the ‘shrine’ of the Tuscan shooter, they had a poll regarding if people thought gun laws were too strict or not.

The results show why we win

You want to know why the Brady’s are a fringe group? That’s a pretty good indicator. We win because most people are smart enough to know the difference between a killer and his tools.

Update – Looks like I spoke too soon. Being a NY Poll, the results have swung the other way.

Can’t win ‘em all ;)

Yes, it could. But I keep seeing these types of responses all over the place. And the article wasn't about guns, so I think the self selection bias might have been a bit lower.

Even if it's off by 20%, that's still a large gap.

If THEY get do to Google searches and call it "research", WE get to use internet polls to back up our points. :)

Tuscan(y) is a place in Italy. ;-) But that pile-o-skulls is kinda Atilla-the-Hun-ish. Typical for some upper-middle class kid who's exploring his religious alternatives (and the sound of water taking to him) while in Community College.

these polls typically are a war of attrition for us. the longer a poll stays up, the more likely it will swing against our favour.

as of 6:45 pm GMT-5, the results have completely swung around with us on the losing side

Interesting. Most of the polls I've seen lately go our way. Oh well, can't win them all.

I could be like the Brady's and erase this post, but being better than that, I'll just leave it up as a mistake.

Given that the "not sure" category went to 0% from 3% (indicating a massive influx of votes), and given that I was able to vote twice from the same IP without an error, it would not surprise me if a script kiddie got ahold of it...

Yeah, it's a bullshit poll. No way "Not sure." could dwindle to 0%. The numbers for the other answers would have to have gone THROUGH THE ROOF without a single person touching the 'Not sure' radio button.
