But Linoge’s artwork puts all mine to shame
I think that you can boil down the anti-gunner’s argument into one basic word – deodand. They either believe truly or at least try to make others believe that the gun is the cause of the crime and if we could just put the toothpaste back in the tube and rid ourselves of objects, then there would be peace amongst men, the lion would lay with the lamb, and Han wouldn’t have had to shoot first, he’d have talked out his issues with Greedo.
Linoge does some legwork providing facts, something there appears to be a dearth of on the anti-gun side, and puts them to use in graphical form. Clearly, if guns caused crime then we’d be seeing a steady rise in crime as the number of guns in the hands of civilians has risen right along with the population increase.
But it hasn’t.
And the anti’s cannot win that argument. Doesn’t mean they won’t try, but I guarantee you they won’t be able to use graphs and charts to prove it. What they will use are circular references to their feeeeeeelings. Take japete – her entire blog is written on emotion and how she feels something is. When you point out facts, she responds with simplistic one liners of “Nonsense” or “I don’t believe that”. You can’t fight illogic with logic, and japete and the true believers that make up the bulk of the anti-gun group are too far gone to reach.
However, those on the fence aren’t. So, we don’t argue for the Brady Campaign’s benefit, but those who have been force fed the anti-gun pabulum via the media for so long they’ve come to accept it as fact.
