Turns out the nut who offed himself after shooting up a school board meeting was a convicted felon.
State prison records show Duke was charged in October 1999 with aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice. He was convicted and sentenced in January 2000 to five years in prison but was released in January 2004.
One, it’s impossible to get a gun into a ‘gun free zone’. Two, the Brady Background Annoyance Check prevents dangerous felons from obtaining weaponry.
I don’t understand how this could have happed. I mean, I’ve been told over and over that I should submit to the background check and all the inconveniences that it entails because it ensures the public’s safety by preventing criminals from getting guns yet here is another criminal clearly with what appears to be a high powered assault weapon which he sprays bullets all over the place.
I’m just glad everyone there obeyed the law and didn’t bring in their own firearm. They may have defended their own lives and we cannot have that, especially in gun free zones. It’s a good thing the No Guns signs prevented anyone else from being armed or the shooter could have gotten hurt a lot sooner.
