Bruce Schneier is truly brilliant in his field, which is COMPUTER security, cryptography, etc. In fact, I've personally hired him in the past to conduct a mission-critical analysis of a truly major semiconductor product, and found him to be a genius and also a really nice guy.

But I've not seen any evidence that he is more qualified than, say, the superbly tasty Kate Mara, to comment on terrorist security matters. He may well be, but I've not seen evidence yet.

Still, I'll concede that his agreement counts for somewhat more than the agreement of all the Streisands and Gyllenhaals put together.

There is overlap between computer and physical security. Maybe not virus removal and counter-terrorism, but many of the things you have to think about security wise on computers work in real life too.

The point I'm making (more for myself) is that I'm not alone in thinking this wasn't as big of a deal as it was made to seem.

He is a great cryptanalyst, and an expert on electronic and physical security and threat assessment. He's also a hoplophobe who uses his status to spread his own ignorance about weapons.
