Some time back I ran across a picture of a weapon used in a prison escape of the 1980s. Basically a shotgun; barrel made of the hollow steel leg of a prison cot, stock the mattress support slats, ammo load of assorted junk, explosive of matches touched off by a spark generated via batteries from a portable radio...

I'm guessing whoever made it thought the cleaning rod was actually some kind of stiffener for the barrel or something or had no idea what it did and only included it because he saw a picture of a real AK and figured it was important.
