Why it was so horrible that Bush wanted trained FBI agents who were required to get warrants first to listen in to phone conversations of suspected terrorists*, but it’s perfectly reasonable for some high school dropout to fondle a 3 year old girl’s privates?

Hell, I’m missing Bush simply because if he were in office, the leftists would be screaming for this shit to stop toute de suite and I’d be there right along with them. As it is, even feminists are champing at the bit (that was for you, Laughingdog ;) to get violated in the name of political correctness.

Let me rephrase that

The professional left (i.e. the media and most of the prominent left bloggers) would be posting nonstop about how awful the Obama administration is and would be running news stories 24/7 condemning the president.

Instead, CNN & MSNBC are running the same video from the TSA Head Pat-Down-Syndrome guy telling us how wonderful the impromptu breast & testicle exams are. The few leftist blogs I've scanned seem to be calling the reaction blown out of proportion by Libertarian types.

Granted, I'm making a rather broad brush statement here and I probably shouldn't. But statists being statists, bowing to the state is always a good thing, be it mandatory same sex education in Kindergarten for the left side, or mandatory Intelligent Design classes for Freshmen on the right.

And, I'd be willing to bet if Grumpy McShitsandwich had won the election, plenty on the right would be trumpeting how wonderful getting Groped for Safety was.

Sadly, no. The point was that they were warrantless, in exception to the FISA rules; and I don't care how trained the Feds are that are violating the 4th... they're still wrong.

And you are correct, it was warrantless insofar as it was supposed to be used on foreign communications, even if one of the ends was in the US. FISA requirements called for a warrant, but we again gave up freedom for a false sense of security.

I learned a lot from my mistakes in my support of some of the early days of the WoT. Most of the Patriot Act was worthless, a good chunk of it relatively harmless, but the small bits we turned our back on because of the expediency in 'fighting terrorism' has now ended up metastasizing into shit like the TSA.
