Cops are busy shooting their partner through their own hand and will probably be more than a few minutes away.

When Glock pistols were first adopted by police agencies the accidental discharge rate went (way) up. The problem was handled by better training (and in some places, a replacement connector that caused a heavier trigger pull). That is why when people come to me and ask for me to teach them how to shoot or advice when picking a gun, I usually (mildly) steer them away from Glock pistols. If that doesn't work and they HAVE to have one because Snoop Dog or whoever has one, I really push rule 3 (keep your booger hook of the bang switch).

See, I view it 180° different Stuart. I am so concerned about keeping my booger hook off the trigger because I started my CCW life with a Glock.

What happened, in my opinion, is that people became too comfortable with the concept of external safeties and just assumed that a safety meant they could put their booger hook on the bang switch with no consequences.

Teaching Rule 3 properly and it won't matter what type of pistol or number of safeties that are or are not there. The best safety exists betwixt one's ears.

I always thought it was because the early adopters of Glocks were switching over from double action revolvers. The long trigger pull on a .38 is much more forgiving than the short, light trigger on a Glock. I guess you are probably right for people who were coming to the Glock from other autos that had an external safety.

I teach all four rules (well five if you count the PB rule, that being "USE A DAMN HOLSTER"). I just stress rule 3 a little more when a Glock is concerned.

Wow! It apparently discharge all by itself. It's funny how mine always requires you to pull the trigger. But the ones the police have go off all by themselves.

I'd say something about doing a Press Check, but since the old guy punched a .40 through his hand, I'd think he forgot to do it from the rear or from under the barrel. Seems he needed to stay awake during the training sessions.
