Last night was a bittersweet evening. My oldest is 8 and loves to learn. She was making up 'magic tricks' last night which mostly consisted of us closing our eyes while she did something.

Now, I'm no master magician, but I know a few coin tricks that are pretty nifty and have been wowing my girls with them since they could realize that their ears could hold coins and small toys.

Last night, I showed Georgia how they worked. She's been on a kick lately that 'daddy can't really remove his thumb' so I figured it was time to show her how some of my coin tricks worked and get her to practice them herself.

In one way, the magic is gone but in another, it's just begun. She's realized there's a whole world of illusions out there that are fun to do. While I closed the door on pulling a quarter our of her ear, I've opened her eyes to the wonders of a magic trick. I think for Christmas I might buy her a kid's magic set like I had growing up.

Now watch me as I pull this tear out of my eye.
