Was when I was laying upon a gurney in the ER with a saline drip in my arm. Really.
Went to a walk in clinic since a) I'd been nauseated for over 10 days b) I started a cough on the previous Friday that hadn't gotten any better and c) on Saturday developed an amazingly horrific case of motion sickness. The nurse decided that there were too many variables and that I should hit the ER and have them check me out just to make sure it wasn't neurological in nature.
I hate going to the ER. With a passion. The only time I feel going to the ER is necessary is when there's a limb missing or you can see one or more of my vital organs hanging out. Somehow, I managed to drive myself there, park in the only available spot which was, due to the nature of space-time, the furthest point from the ER entrance, and went in.
The Dr. on duty said he'd give me Valium or Meclazine in a drip, and diagnosed me with Vertigo pretty much by looking at me. Knowing that I would be asked questions, my wife dropped in because nothing bothers her more than not being able to answer questions for me when I'm asked. I took the Meclazine because I do not like the loopy feeling of narcotics. The wife also pestered the doctor to diagnose me with a sinus infection and prescribe me a Z-Pack.
So, my breakfast consisted of about a quarter pound of various pills for nausea, sinuses, congestion, heartburn, and lord knows what else. I'm still dizzy, but at least I'm at work. The nausea comes and goes, but the Meclazine keeps it from being overwhelming. The oddest feeling is being VERY hungry, but having the thought of most food turn my stomach. Thank God I have some Cheetos and cold water handy.
Oh well. Could be worse!
