Giving squirrel shit a run for the 'nuttiest item on planet Earth', some environmental whacko decided that the Discovery Channel wasn't doing it's part to promote worldwide genocide so that Mother Gaia could take a well deserved break and, like many whackos before him, chose the ever so effective method of getting his point across by getting himself blowed up while attempting to kill others.

Of course progressives and the media, using a predetermined set of conclusions, labeled the loon a 'right wing, Tea Party activist', a phrase I swear must reside in their collective clipboards all based on a single, out of context line of his manifesto discussing filthy anchor babies.

Now, it was clear from his insane writings that he was at best, a certifiable eco-nut and someone who hated humanity with a passion. It feels safe for those on the right to claim he's a lefty and pawn him off on their side. Unfortunately, this ain't exactly right either.

Those who have met the former basket case indicate he was, without a doubt, bug-nuts certifiable with political views all over the spectrum.

Sometimes, crazy is just crazy. It's a cheap and easy 'point for your team' to be able to point out that someone on the other side is a few fries short of a Happy Meal, but it's not necessarily true. Sure, this Darwin Award Winner espoused radical views that find a better home on the left, but to insist that the left 'claim him as one of their own' makes as much sense as saying those on the right are equally responsible for McVeigh.

Now, I agree with Joe Huffman – People who are more inclined to use the violence of the government tend to exhibit less inhibitions when it comes to using violence to further their goals (heaven forbid, I can only use logic and words… no wonder I'm at a disadvantage). This does not mean all progressives are violent, and I'm not going to automatically assign the latest nut-job to be the left's albatross. It is odd though, how the vast majority of right-wing violence seems to be committed by people with strong left leaning views.

This guy though? He checked out of the Sanity Hotel a while back. He just happened to latch onto environmentalism and could have just as easily done his crazy using concepts that would have found a home at your local Tea Party.
