Tam (again)

What I don't get is this: I have carried a pistol every waking moment for most of my adult and, despite sometimes being mad enough at people to spit nails, I have never, ever drawn that pistol and pointed it at somebody like it was some kind of tool of argument, let alone started busting caps. The screamingly obvious lack of impulse control on this sergeant is appalling; I sincerely question whether he should be allowed out walking around near decent folk.

And again, we point to one of the anti-gunners' top arguments – that only police officers should have weapons because they shoot them twice a year for qualification – and wonder just what in the hell they are smoking.

Cops are, quite surprising to some it would seem, only human. The position comes with a bit of power, and unfortunately at times that attracts the wrong people for the wrong reasons (as a disclaimer, I still feel most cops are the decent sort). No amount of training on how to shoot your pistol can replace common sense of knowing when to not shoot your pistol, as officer Road Rage here aptly proves.

Cops are only human. Humans do stupid stuff and punishing me for another human's mistake is one of the more stupid ideas out there. I guess when you're a collectivist though, that makes sense.
