Being that Lucky Gunner is helping keep the lights on here (you are clicking on the ad, aren't you?), I found this article a fascinating read
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) August 4, 2010 Like most industries in America from the fall of 2008 until recently, the online ammunition business has been a roller coaster ride. LuckyGunner.com’s story is like most American success stories: a combination of hard work, overcoming adversity, entrepreneurial innovation, and a touch of good fortune. The co-founders, all under age 30, successfully navigated the Obama-induced ammunition shortage, the Great Recession, and the normal challenges faced by all small-business owners to transform their idea into a website specializing in ammo for sale with over $3,200,000 of revenue in its first twelve months.

All under 30. That part alone makes me feel old as well as amazes me.
I managed to speak with one of the co-founders after their ad went up and was pleasantly surprised to hear how they pursued this line of business and, as you can see from the article, how successful it has been for them. This is the essence of capitalism – a need is found and a way to meet that need at the best cost is built. People get their ammo that has been either hard to find or just plain out of stock, Lucky Gunner makes a sale, the entire transaction is voluntary for all parties involved.
I, alas, don't have that business acumen required to build such an enterprise. I've had to accept that it takes a certain kind of person to be able to take that kind of risk and put that kind of effort into something such as this and that that certain kind of person was not me. But the gunny community is better off from the Lucky Gunners, the Tactilite's, the Bison Armory's, and all the other smaller businesses that cater to our hobby.
