Albuquerque, NM - A man trying to join his wife who was in labor at UNM Hospital (UNMH) may have missed the birth after accidentally shooting 6 people in the lobby.

UNM Hospital is in the center of UNM’s main campus in northeast Albuquerque.

The man was waiting in line inside the emergency room, and police say he was fiddling with a gun in his front pocket when it went off.

Ok kiddos – Let's review gun mechanics 101. When you do this, the gun will fire? Anyone? Yes, you in the front row. That's right, when you pull the trigger. Here's your gold star.

Now, I don't know about your revolver, by my revolver takes quite a bit of effort for the DA. It's not like a crisp, single stage where only a slight bit of pressure can set it of. Unless you have the hammer back, then it's a fairly light trigger. So, this assclown has a .357 Magnum in his pocket sans holster and either applied a not-so-insubstantial amount of pressure to the trigger or had the hammer pulled back, all of which leads down Fail Street.

This Jeopardy Reject then decided to just try to walk out the door where police stopped him. Oh, and joys upon joys, he had a concealed permit (only the anti's believe we think permit holders are perfect).

For even more of your USDA Recommended Daily Allowance of Fail – Read the whole article. The first paragraph ends with "after accidentally shooting 6 people in the lobby." He didn't shoot 6 people. 6 people were hit by fragments of the bullet. Then there's "There are clear signs saying no guns." The signs are see through? Or are the signs clearly marked?

Finally, the Darwin Award Runner Up, Taylor, apparently talks in 3rd person omniscient - "Taylor told News 13, “I kind of feel sorry for the guy but then again I don't because it was stupid.”"

It's like a smorgasbord of stupid.

As for the no-guns signs, I don't know the weight they carry. It was at a university hospital, so there's that to add to the mix as well.

Only YOUR side says CCW holders are perfect, not us. We not only know there are idiots in our midst, but like I did here with my post, we highlight problems. Because even with idiots like this one, we're still by far a law abiding group who poses no threat to you or anyone else. Your side is the one that has to make up strawmen to attack.

And let's get real about the signs: this guy wasn't clear on the fact that it's bad to point a revolver at a living person while pulling the trigger--he's not going to bother reading any signs.

I read what you posted Robb, and I just had to post to prove you right!

Of course, you all know that all CCW persons aren't perfect, yet you guys keep pushing for EVERYONE to CCW -- so we can fill our streets up with people like Mr. Stupid. CCW needs to be Shall Issue, not May Issue! Everyone needs to CCW so they can protect themselves! CCW needs to be "Arizona-style" so everyone can carry a concealed weapon!

And when you guys finally get your way and every Mr./Ms. Stupid is out walking around with a gun, you'll be thrilled because that is truly FREEDOM!

I want you to remember some things, Ubu. Mr Stupid can drive.

He can purchase gasoline.

He can obtain matches.

He can consume copious amounts of alcohol.

He's allowed to buy cutlery.

He can walk into Wal-Mart and pick up both a 12 pack of Coke and some powdered chlorine for a pool (the combination of which releases deadly chlorine gas).

He can purchase black powder and coffee creamer.

He's allowed to be around children.

Arizona CCW? You mean
* be a resident of this state or a United States citizen;
* be twenty-one years of age or older;
* not be under indictment for a felony offense;
* not be convicted of a felony offense, unless: the conviction has been expunged, set aside, vacated or pardoned, or the individuals civil rights must be restored AND the individual must not be a prohibited possessor under state or federal law.
* not suffer from mental illness and been adjudicated mentally incompetent or committed to a mental institution;
* not be unlawfully present in the United States;
* satisfactorily complete a firearms safety training program approved by the department of public safety pursuant to ARS §13-3112.O.
And pay the $60 fee?

And CCW should be shall issue. In fact, Vermont style carry should be the norm (you probably meant that instead of "Arizona", but being you, you cannot be bothered to know what you're talking about before spouting off). The problem is you have people denied a permit for reasons that have nothing to do with their ability to handle a firearm. You like that, but free men and women do not.

Arizona has a Vermont-style CCW as of last month (or this month). You don't need anything but a gun to carry concealed. There is no required permit anymore.

I don't really care about CCW across the USA since I don't live all over the USA. I only care about it in Southern California. And I'll go down kicking and screaming if they ever try to introduce it (as Shall Issue) to this region.

As to this: "Show me where we are saying EVERYONE should CCW." Don't you read Joe's blog? Don't you read all the other Libertarian blogs?

One of the best reasons I've seen NOT to carry was from an older woman in Florida who went and got a CCW permit. (This was not on a gun blog, by the way.) She admitted that she had very little interest in firearms but she felt compelled to get a CCW because she wanted to participate if others started shooting around her. Seriously. She bought a gun and I think she fired it once to comply with the CCW licensing in Florida. She's packing heat and I want to let you know that she has given very little thought to what might happen if she uses her gun. She just wanted it because "everybody else has one."

I don't really want to see what happens when LA gets the idea "everybody else has one." We've already seen what happens with tattoos and weird colored hair and heroin habits.

Ah, and here's where your fantasy world simply falls apart when it smacks directly into reality. I no more own the actions of another human being than I own the next Solar flare. He is his own person and my political view is that he can do whatever his stupid little heart desires and is responsible for his OWN actions. He's responsible for his little fuckup here and he should pay the price for it.

You, on the other hand, believe EVERYONE should pay for his fuckup and be denied a right simply because of a statistically insignificant probability.

Also, let me show you something that probably won't register with your closed little mind - I was under the impression that the AZ permitless carry did not pass, but it appears I am wrong on that account. So...yum, crow.

See that? I held a belief, I was presented facts that contradicted it, and instead of doubling down, I admit to being wrong. You should try that some time, you'll find the world makes more sense when you do so.

I know Joe real well. I've met him several times in real life. I've held conversations with him. I know his view mirrors mine - He believes everyone should be allowed to make the decision to carry, he does not advocate that everyone carries. There's a distinct difference that you refuse to put any effort into figuring out. You conflate the two concepts and thus make false assumptions that we want a gun in everyone's hands. No wonder you're so paranoid.

And I'm so glad you had a single story that proved why nobody should carry. Here's my single story to contradict yours - Because I was carrying, I was able to defend my life against multiple attackers and am alive today because of it.
