The whole point of the AFG is to hold your arm forward for stability.

I have an AFG and I love it.

Seems like a lot of people use it that way, from what I've seen on arfcom. I'm thinking about getting a longer handguard to move my AFG farther out, but, IIRC, there are guys that have cut theirs down to bring it still closer to the magazine well.

Whatever floats their boat, I guess.

I've never used anything like that. The way I was taught (Army), was to take the non-firing hand, make slight cup, and lay the rifle foregrip in it WITHOUT GRIPPING IT.

Robb, ditto. Me, I get the feeling that while Oleg loves guns very much, he does not seem to know a great deal about really using them.

Although to be honest, I tend to use the AFG on my AK a tad too close myself - the damn gun is too heavy for me to run it with the forward hand totally extended like Magpul intended. :/ It's still a great grip even with the forward hand somewhat bent at the elbow, and the wrist position / the thumb over bore line thing does wonders to recoil control. Still, either the gun needs to diet or I need to lift some weights. :p However, with a carbine advertised specifically to be light weight, it should be possible to place the foregrip where it belongs.

And your FTC disclaimers are the bestest! :D

Yabbut then he wouldn't have been able to fit the light/laser/whatever it is on the rail, which I'm guessing was something Kel-Tec wanted to show. Short rail on that SU-16.

I set up the AFG the way I like it. On SU16, it covers the vertical plastic rib that otherwise interferes with the comfortable hold. Forward placement is for recoil control, mine is more for pre-shot stability. My other SU16 has a longer rail but AFG is still fairly far back on it because that's how I like it.

The AFG made no sense to me until i watched the Magpul carbine videos , It really is the best answer for the specific grip/stance they teach and makes a lot of sense in that context.
