So, there's this weird video of matronly ladies firing off various weaponry captured in super-slow motion that's apparently a call to sign up for an email to let you know when other people who sign up think there might be a sexual predator near you.

Their big message?

It helps though

They are 100% right, but probably don't mean to be. What you need to protect your kids is a combination of being aware of your surroundings, understanding the real threats and dangers, and when faced with a situation you must have the willpower to fight. A gun is just a tool and while an efficient one, it's useless without the proper mindset required to utilize it.

It bothers me that the distinct impression I got from watching this ad was that the group doesn't feel that fighting back is a viable option when protecting your children. Too many in society have become infected with the false belief that any violence is bad and should never be employed even if your children's lives are at stake.

This group also seems to be trying to capitalize on fear of abductions and fear of sexual predators by conflating the two and making it seem that if you know there's a predator in your neighborhood, you can avoid the abduction. I always thought the vast number of abductions were from known persons / family and not some random pervert offering candy from a van.

I wonder how this group would react to this lady's philosophy?

Really, if you're a sexual predator, what scares you more? A mother with a gun pointed at your face or some frumpy bint with an email?
