Nikki Goeser has a blog and her story is chilling.
Ben asked me to marry him on Nov 14, 2007 on the karaoke stage. Ben has been gone now for just over a year. My husband was murdered right before my own eyes by a man that had been stalking me. I am a right to carry permit holder but because of Tennessee State Law, I had to leave my legal "permitted" weapon locked in my car the night my stalker decided to bring his "illegal" gun into Johnny's Sports Bar (where Ben & I were running our Karaoke Show) and shot Ben 6 times after I had asked management to remove him.
WizardPC told me about her when we had dinner together, and it was yet another case of magical barriers failing. As someone who is trusted to carry a firearm concealed, nothing is more confusing as to why I'm allowed here, but not right there, as if some barrier, once crossed, results in me losing my ability to control myself. The confusion even goes to 'places that serve alcohol', as if those were the only places I was able to consume alcohol and have a gun with me.
I'm sorry for Nikki's loss, but like Suzanna Hupp, she is using her tragedy to push for laws that prevent others from suffering the same fate rather than wallow in self pity and demand others are rendered just as helpless.
Go give her a read, you'll be glad you did, even if it tears you up a little on the inside.
