While we've all been focusing our efforts on the upcoming Zombie apocalypse here on Terra Firma, it appears it's already started up in space.
What’s confounding scientists is that even though the satellite is toast, it continues to operate at full power, but with nobody telling it what to do. Why on earth we should care: The “zombiesat” (as its known in space talk) could steal a working sat signal, and interrupt programming for its customers.
Jennifer asks "What caliber for satellites?"
Since the 50 BMG can take out passenger aircraft full of disabled children on their way to a free medical clinic in Aruba, I'd assume it'd do OK for satellites as well. So… take a 668 grain projectile… move it at 36745.41 feet per second… that's a IPSC power factor of 24,545.93 (that should be enough for Major). Only about 10x the normal velocity of a standard M33 military load.
Not sure I'd want to be the one to fire it though…
