How thpethial
The oldest finally lost one of her upper central incisors last night. The thing has been loose for months and it still took a bit of pulling to get it free. The wife did that as I can handle broken bones, concussions, lacerations, and skinned knees. What I can't deal with are injured digits or anything dental. It's so cute hearing her talk now that sibilants are difficult to form.

A new blog you should read
Nikki Goeser has a blog and her story is chilling. Ben asked me to marry him on Nov 14, 2007 on the karaoke stage. Ben has been gone now for just over a year. My husband was murdered right before my own eyes by a man that had been stalking me. I am a right to carry permit holder but because of Tennessee State Law, I had to leave my legal "permitted" weapon locked in my car the night my stalker decided to bring his "illegal" gun into Johnny's Sports Bar (where Ben & I...

In the fraction of life
These guys are the lowest common denominator. Really. We have often wondered what the true membership numbers of the Brady Campaign are. In 2004 they said they had "about half a million". Since they are selling their membership list we now know what are probably close to the true numbers: 50,581 DONORS/MEMBERS (TOTAL FILE) 40,765 DONORS/MEMBERS (24 MOS) 28,417 DONORS/MEMBERS (12 MOS) 9,590 CATHOLIC DONORS/MEMBERS (36 MOS) 5,368 JEWISH...

The disadvantage
My poor daughters. Last night, my oldest had to work on her spelling words. She has to write each word twice, then write 5 sentences using them. Two of the words were toward and light. My wife suggested one of her sentences was "Go toward the light, Carol Anne!". She wrote it. Granted, her teacher barely looks old enough to drive, she might not get the reference. I still got a giggle out of it.

Gun = Tool
Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes when you don't have a gun, you improvise by taking your attacker's shotgun and beating him near to death with it. Sometimes you see your attackers' gun is unloaded and then proceed to beat the hell out of them and hogtie them with electrical cords. Then, both sets of thugs get their pictures online after said beating, and smiles break out amongst the populace. Remember, the gun is a very effective tool but without the will to fight back, it's useless....

Repeat after me
Correlation is not causation. Several people have pointed out that crime is down and that gun ownership is up. The thing is, you would have to find enough people who would have committed a violent crime but were a) worried they'd get shot in the process so decided to do something more constructive and b) were willing to admit to it to have any sort of proof that was the reason. I think it has something to do with it, but I'm not as confident that's a key reason to purchase firearms. Crime...

Is there nothing the media can't screw up? Even Gun Nuts Media? The Hi-Cap version features Para’s high capacity 1911 frame which holds .45 rounds of .45 ACP ammo. Yeah, that's what I want. An expensive pistol that can't even hold half of one round ;)

I will say one thing about leftists
When it comes to inconsistency in how they think, they're very consistent. Want to bash Jesus, Jews, or any other non-Muslim religion? There's an app for that. Want to insult the filthy religion that spawns the vast majority of the world's terrorism? There's no app for that, sorry. "'iSlam Muhammad' apparently depicted images of the prophet Muhammad (forbidden by Islam) and outlined disturbing passages from the Qur'an," TUAW reports. "It's surprisingly similar to...

Exactly how does one demonstrate a laser via radio?
From my good buddies over at Crimson Trace Crimson Trace will be on the radio show “Xplor The Outdoors w/ Jim & Patti Solomon” this Sunday morning at 7:00am PST. Our good friend Travis Noteboom will be waking up with the roosters to regale us with the history of Crimson Trace, some insight on new products (including green!), and maybe a few of his too-hot-for-TV hunting stories. If you can’t catch the show live, be sure to check their website (below) to listen to it on their...

Breaking news – The Brady Campaign celebrates decisive legal victory over the NRA
Charlotte, NC – In what may be a key victory for the prominent gun control group in the United States, The Brady Campaign has issued a press release regarding a legal victory over the NRA. Brady director Paul Helmke emerged from the downtown Charlotte Criminal Courts Department visibly jubilant with a victorious smile and was greeted by throngs of 2 or 3 supporters. In a prepared statement, Mr. Helmke addressed the crowd saying "The string of defeats we have suffered at the hands of the...

It is the CCR Ceraplated Sig Sauer P228 in the top two pictures here. I'll post up more details when I get home. It's 1991 manufacture, West German, 3 dot contrast sights. And I bet he'll ship it directly to… umm… well, to your local FFL dealer who...

Wanna trade?
As everyone knows, I'm a 10mm guy. Call it a soft spot for a round that's expensive and tends to cause wormholes to open up due to the blast, I just love my 10mm. I bought my Glock 29 because I assumed that concealing a subcompact would be easier than a full size. After doing so for years, I've realized that the biggest hurdle to concealing is the width of the firearm. I'm 6'3", medium build so a longer firearm isn't as much of an issue as it would be for someone of a smaller stature. My...

Quote of the day
When 13 year old kids are afraid to play outside, the gun controllers don't protest in front of the gang and drug houses. They protest in front of gun stores, Starbucks, and NRA meetings. And that is why I will forever question the motives of the gun controllers. They claim to be working to prevent gun violence, but you never see them anywhere near those who are committing the violence. The anti-gunners love to play the "It's for the Children" card, but they do not mean it. If...

And where were the cops?
I thought they were supposed to be omnipresent? TAMPA - Police are searching for a man with a knife who tried to break into a family's home late Thursday night. The homeowner and his wife let a guest out of their back door about 11 p.m., then heard a knock on the door a few minutes later. Believing it was their friend, the homeowner opened the door and saw a man with a black cloth wrapped around his head and a silver kitchen knife in his hand, Tampa police Lt. Lee Bercaw said. The...

Bigotry by any other name
Does this make sense to you? No reasonable person would dispute that a black man walking into a retail store wearing thuggish clothing is highly disruptive conduct which is virtually certain to create a disturbance. This is so because when employees and shoppers in retail stores see a colored person dressed like that, they are likely to be frightened and possibly even panicky. many employees and shoppers are likely to think that the black man is either deranged or about to...

While we've all been focusing our efforts on the upcoming Zombie apocalypse here on Terra Firma, it appears it's already started up in space. What’s confounding scientists is that even though the satellite is toast, it continues to operate at full power, but with nobody telling it what to do. Why on earth we should care: The “zombiesat” (as its known in space talk) could steal a working sat signal, and interrupt programming for its customers. Jennifer asks "What caliber for...

In the mind of the anti-gunners
So... what do you think motivates people like Paul Helmke, Peter Hamm and Josh Sugarmann? I want to believe they are simply whores who are saying whatever it takes to get a paycheck, but part of me wonders how much of their bilge they truly believe. Are they are incapable of determining truth from falsity as Joe states? There is little doubt in my mind that they are compulsive liars, but to what point do they truly believe what they are selling? I can't really imagine it's a power thing....

Because it bears repeating
From the lovely and talented Breda comes this story "He puts the dollar on the counter with the crackers and then, boom he's pulling out the gun," said Poland. The clerk can't get the register to open, upsetting the gunman. The manager hits the panic button. What happens next shocks everyone. A customer, believed to be in his sixties, makes a split second decision to help. He grabs two bottles of beer and smashes one over the back of the robber's head. The...

Cool! A new radio show about guns in Tampa
Gun Rights for You is here in the Tampa area, on WWBA 840 AM on Saturdays at 1:00 PM to 2:00. I'll be honest, I rarely listen to the radio. I've been so pampered with the On Demand capabilities of the Interweb Tubes that over-the-air just hasn't appealed to me in a long time. I get my music via Pandora through the iPhone if I want tunes in my car, and at home I just listen to my MP3s. But I will try to give these guys a listen this weekend and let you know what I think. That's what I get for dragging my feet
When it comes to guns, I'm pretty much a utilitarian at heart. For the most part, each firearm I have purchased filled a particular need and wasn't simply a 'want'. Part of that is my nature, the other part of course is finances (I simply do not have the money to buy fancy guns for no reason). There are, of course, exceptions to this rule. Certain guns, I just want for no other reason than to have. This list includes the KRISS Super V, a 50BMG upper for my AR, and a Wildey in .475 Wildey...

Obama's supreme court pick a danger to the Republic
Following a long string of poor decisions, Obama's choice for a replacement for the retiring Justice Stevens is one that will have deleterious effects for generations to come. Nominating an Immortal to the Supreme Court is just asking for trouble. Preventing unwanted bodily perforation by officers of the peace
Or, How to Not Get Shot by the Police. This is an important thing to consider. When a cop is called to a scene where there's been a shooting, he or she will have no idea who the good guy vs. bad guy is. You need to consider this before you hold the bad guy at gunpoint or continue to display your firearm. Personally, I always think about how I can put away my gun as soon as possible after an event. Back into the holster and concealed is a good way of not having it out where an officer might...
