They didn't have this technology when I was in the Marines

I used to work on Cobra helicopters and we required that the blades rotate in order to fly.

Apparently these days they've gotten away from that requirement.

also appears that with the main rotor stopped the tail rotor doesn't need to spin so fast!

As ugly as they may be, I always thought the Hind (and the A-10) had a sort of brutal-scary beauty to them. As in, "Don't **** With Us."

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love the Hind. It's just that Soviet engineers seem to have taken a little extra effort to make their designs as ugly as possible.

Also as one here mentioned the Warthog is ugly until its beauty or armaments and maneuverability is needed by the ground forces
