The memory hole

I just did something I don't normally do, I deleted a post.

I could see where it could be construed as giving really bad advice, so I took it down. You fill out the census form as you see fit. Not being a lawyer, it is not wise for me to say what is and isn't constitutionally legal about the census.

Alternately, you could have added a paragraph to the end.

After "You didn't give any more information that was required, did you?" you could have added, "Of course, I could be wrong. Follow my example at your own risk."

For my 2 cents I am glad for the census as I just finished a 4 yr genealogy search of my family and w/o the census my search would have been almost impossible.

To learn the history (especially during the civil war) really made my family feeling great.

So, apparently they are going to be trolling around college dorms, getting students to fill out the questionnaires. My parents are going to be including me on their questionnaire, so should I just tell them to go away? Or should I just avoid opening my door for a few weeks?

Not even being an American, I feel pretty confident I can say on the Internet that the constitutionality of the census is limited to the amount of people living in each residence, and they have no legal grounds to ask anything else. Maybe I'm just feeling overconfident about my level of understanding regarding this topic? :)

Submitting census information doesn't concern me. When asked, I replied that only one person resided at Casa Phudpucker.

The race question is unnecessary and divisive. None of the tic-boxes fit anyone I know. On that last line, when asked to define my race, I scrawled "HUMAN."

Robb, as I'm sure you know, what the courts decide does not necessarily have anything to do with what the law actually is. Especially in a country where just about the entire federal government functions in an unconstitutional way! In fact, didn't some high level judge flat out admit that if U.S. government started obeying its own constitution, nearly the whole federal government would have to be disbanded? (I forget the guys name or I'd do a search, but me and names is not a good combination...)

I answered the number of people and struck the rest with an initial and date. They can get fucked if they think I'm going to support their "a white baby is worth more/less than a brown baby" shit.
I've said it here before: the only entity that engages in impactful, systemic racism these days is the government, and I won't be an enabler, even if it would be funny (to me) to put some ethnic slur for my race.

We all know the census is used to allocate federal funding, among other things. We all don't know that it is not just a head count as many believe, but can gather additional info, and has been ruled constitutional (and is IN the constitution) as such:

"The U.S. Constitution empowers the Congress to carry out the census in "such manner as they shall by Law direct" (Article I, Section 2)"
It's that little "such manner..." part that trumps the "just count me" crowd.
Have a friend who worked in the Census Maryland HQ for 1990 and 2000. The "American/Human/F***U" type responses were keyed in as caucasian/other. Kind of sad when you think about it.
So you all who answered such got counted anywho. And probably correctly.
