Well, my RSS aggregator, RSS Bandit, just took a dump. I lost my entire blog list. Every last one. Backups didn't seem to take hold either, so I'm quite literally going to have to start over from scratch in building my reading list.

I'm really getting tired of RSS Bandit. I can't upgrade to the newest version as it locks up tight every few minutes. And this is like the 4th time this has happened (the other times I was at least able to find a decent backup).

I'm not a fan of browser based readers, but I'm all ears to what everyone else uses. If I'm going to start over, it's going to be from scratch.

If you use the Google RSS reader, there are several RSS apps, like FeedDemon and NetNewsWire, that use it. So you can have a RSS reader application and a web based reader at the same time.

I pretty much exclusively use Google Reader, sipmly because it is a browser-based system and 100% portable. But that probably does not help much :).

RSS never made any sense to me on a desktop with a broadband connection. I still use bookmarks and Firefox's open-all-in-tabs.

I do use BlueRSS from http://bluegorilla.fr on my Droid though.

I use Google Reader. It works well on my home computers (Linux Ubuntu) and my Blackberry.

I use and enjoy FeedDemon. However, I turned off Google synchronization. If you use the Google synchro, FeedDemon only updates as often as Google does. However, as a standalone, you can force an update anytime.

Also, it is free (ad-supported) or pay $14.95 and get rid of the ads.

Any PC, anywhere, plus iPhone acccess.

Also, if your office blocks sites based on content, you still get the RSS feeds, since it's the evil empire aggregating the feeds, there is no connection between your PC and the site.

SayUncle recommended i use Google Reader, so i switched to that last week. much better than looking at each web site individually. it also works on my Droid.

I use Google Reader. Works just fine. Can access from my phone. Don't have to make any changes from work PC to home PC.

Another vote for Google Reader. When I'm doing my morning blogging I keep it open in one Firefox tab, my blog in another, and open other tabs for the news stories I select, YouTube links, Wikipedia checks, etc. Really makes blogging convenient.

Count me in for Google Reader + a newsreader that syncs with it. In my case, NetNewsWire on both my Macs, and on my iPhone. I have also tried two other iPhone newsreaders which synced with Google Reader (Byline + Newsstand), and though they were not to my taste for other reasons they synced fine. On my work PC I actually use the web interface; I can't stand FeedDemon for whatever reason, mostly interface-wise but also a lot of which having to do with it using the IE rendering engine.

Generally, I like that no matter where I'm reading my RSS feeds, using whichever newsreader application, I generally have a synced list of feeds and unread items.

Newz Crawler - handles my seven trillion feeds, podcasts, youtube, and revision3 channels like a breeze. Has a nice background download manager. Standalone Windows app.

Yet another Google Reader. I've sorted blogs to A list, (Read every day) B list (read if I have time) C list (Used to read, not interested any more) comix, comedy and news. Everything stays synched across laptop, netbook, and Ipod, regardless of OS or browser.
