I signed it, but the tin ears of this administration doesn't listen to the wishes of the little people very often.

I'm surprised you signed it - given your experience you should realise that a military trial grants status as a combatant; something that their cowardly acts certainly do not deserve. Try them as criminals, treat them as nothing more special than any other criminal and reduce their ability to use a military trial as another recruiting tool...

I hear you, and understand; at the same time like you, I have military service (10+ years before disabled) and do not believe that the military is the right place for this type of crime. First, culturally the military is predisposed to slam dunking these guys, which does not fit the constitutional requirements of fair and impartial. Second, it elevates these thugs to the status of a military organization, which means that they get Geneva convention protections, etc - without which we can just send the Delta guys or SEALs, etc and go kill them. Think about trying to define a line of assault for some of the areas where these folks are living.

Finally, it opens the door to AMCITS being tried in military courts, which is a very poor idea. For example, hacking under the DCMA can be considered a terrorist act...do we really think that trying a 17 yr old AMCIT in a military court is a good idea?
