Phil over at Random Nuclear Strikes has a link to some article about HSA's and how evil they are. The comments are telling, as "Wingnuts" are dismissed as 'non sentient', a great method of making one's enemies sub human. People who supported slavery did the same thing to blacks, as do jihadists for the same reasons.

Anyway, the main thrust is that some HSA CEO stole money (which is illegal) and therefore HSA's are bad ideas. For whatever reason, most articles hatin' on HSA's seem to come from lefties (who hate more than any other group I've ever seen). They bitch and moan about how poor people can't afford them and that seems to be the number 1 sticking point, but poorer folks can't afford a high end Honda, but that doesn't make Honda a bad company.

I've just started an HSA for my wife and children as the new job doesn't supply insurance for family, and I'm completely ok with it since the HSA is a much better deal. It allows me to now have insurance for my family that is portable and not tied to employment. The high deductible means I will better ration my health care needs as it takes a LOT of doctor's visits to meet it, but not so high that a single emergency is going to bankrupt me.

Over time, that account will build up which means I can use it as a savings account so that when I get older and DO have a major illness, I'll be better prepared.

Why is this a bad thing? I mean, I realize it's a system that rewards the resourceful and that's an anathema to progressives who believe everyone should be equal in all things.

Guess I answered my own question there.
