So… What bands / musical artists are you surprised to learn they have more than one song. As in, each and every song sounds pretty much the same?

Rage Against the Machine

Not sure if this qualifies, but I've listen to one of the metal channels on XM and was surprised to find that there were several artists and there was more than one song being played. At least that is what the little "Artist/Title" display claims.

Gotta disagree on the SRV. He can go from slow Blues to rocking blues to Jazz.If you think all his stuff sound the same you haven't listened to enough.From Pride and Joy to Texas Flood to Lenny to Rude Mood all different styles.He does have a distinctive sound but that is not the same as all his songs sounding the same.

The Chilis actually have 2 songs, "under the bridge" and "give it away". Those 2 cover their entire range.

SRV - Nope. He has one solo, one beat, and one chord progression just in different keys. Although his rendition of "Little Wing" is probably in my top 25 songs of all time.

Nickleback, Godsmack and Disturbed - agreed. And I like Disturbed a lot. Shinedown is another 'hard to discern twixt two different melodies' but I like the one song they do as it is.

Disturbed doesn't so much have one song as they have one song per album.

Godflesh, now... song, nothing; they only have one chord. Gridlock is much the same way.

Front Line Assembly, at least since 1990.

Skinny puppy, at least until 2005.

It could be all their songs sound the same, could be the radio only plays the same song. Either way it sucks, and I'd rather never hear them again.

Sting starts out versatile for a turn or two and then segues into the same Sting-a-ling-da-da-do-do. I went to a Sting concert where the opening band was a Sting-alike clone band. He hired the band, it was on purpose.

Weer'd, if you base your opinions of a band on their radio play, everything sounds monotonous. Blues Traveler has a lot of variety. But Runaround and Hook are the only two the radio stations know about.

ZZ Top also made some great music, until the Eliminator album. After that, they figured out a recipe that sells and stuck with it.

My votes would be for The Strokes and The Killers.

Even though I like their music a lot, Soil has essentially two songs. Heavy, and extra heavy. Other than the lyrics, all the songs in the two are the same.
