Well, if you Google the round, it does not pierce armor, its not a cop killer as CNN is reporting. The general public can't buy the high power stuff and it is not much larger a round than the 5.56 NATO that is now in use. .223 VS .224. Plus its been compared to the .22 Hornet.

I think its the Mm designation that we Americans freak-out about because we never learned it.

Then you have to ask, where were the victims hit and with what?

He, the shooter also had a .357 Mag revolver!

I'd be more worried about the .357!

I'm kinda surprised that Fox News got this wrong, as they usually are less anti-gun than the others, but this may be real ignorance on their part, rather than deliberate disinformation.

The 5.7 in its original SS190 military load was indeed designed to pierce armor, and still tumble through flesh, creating substantial wound potential.
