I have a hard enough time thinking about firing my 10mm without hearing protection, I can't imagine shooting a 50BMG without it.

The only guns I shoot without hearing protection have suppressors on the end of the barrel.

If I paid the $$$ for the .50, I'd pay the $$ for the can too.

When I was younger, I did fire a shotgun with no hearing protection, after that... never again.

I don't think at my age my shoulder could even handle it.
As for hearing, last December I fell, hit my hear on the ice in the street and a week later lost hearing in my right ear a week later and never did come back even after 2 cat scans in 1 week showed nothing. But I'll bet my hear glows now.
