We all know Paul Helmke et al are sad pandas over the recent advances in gun rights. Heller went our way, and now Chicago vs. Nordyke is going before the SCOTUS. Already, the anti-gun forces are spinning their inevitable loss as 'no big deal'. The thing is, I've written off the Brady Campaign as practically irrelevant these days. They've got nothing new, their arguments are tired and pretty much are self-defeating, and even at the gun range, very few people get the reference on my targets. Even Alan Gura, of Heller fame, has mentioned that they're no longer a threat to expend much effort on.
So, I've not paid 'em much attention. Their blog is in my RSS Feed, because it's important to see if they do manage to come up with anything new. Just because the Brady Bunch and VPC are useless for anything besides sucking up the Joyce Foundation dollars doesn't mean there aren't real threats to our rights and that they might be the blind squirrel finding the nut on occasion.
So, I've paid very little attention to their blog, but I have noticed one thing. My, aren't they getting rather nasty? It's no longer articles on why people shouldn't own guns or cherry picked statistics, they're going after individuals. They pick stories that involve CCW holders getting arrested even if the story has nothing to do with guns. They dry-hump every accusation without any follow through to see if it was warranted or not. And while I've yet to see a gunny I associate with say Every CCW holder is an angel and can do no wrong, they continue to take that line of attack of trying to prove that a few bad apples ruin the entire orchard as if we've ever said anything besides "CCWs are statistically better behaved than most other groupings of the populace".
Nasty posts, no follow ups, no facts. And they wonder why they're practically irrelevant. Still, I think a "Nasty posting alert" might be in order.
