Something you don't normally find in news articles, but this Middletown Journal article happens to have just that.
When it comes to gun safety and kids, there is serious disagreement — some people advocate letting children become comfortable with firearms, while others say to keep them far away. “It’s about education and parents instructing kids properly,” said Hamilton police Detective Dan Stevenson. “Take the mystique away from them.” In his view, exposing children to firearms and firearm safety early on could save their lives.

You mean the first paragraph isn't GUNS ARE EVIL!!!! Avert your children's eyes!!!? Amazing.
It goes on to explain that tools (yes, they say tools) can always be dangerous and that educating your children is essential to protecting them, something I have been expounding on for quite some time here.
Of course, the article 'balances' the logic with some pure PSH
Guns should be regarded as a tiger in the home that can attack at any time, said Middletown police Detective Janice Jones.
The FNH FiveSeveN is perfect for tigers! And lions! And Bear! He's right though. Just last night I had a near death experience as my KelTec P3AT leaped out of its secure location and rampaged through the house. Thankfully it was only a .380 and the damage was minor.
I'd like you to notice the tone of the various factions there. Those who believe that educating your children and doing what you should to keep your firearms out of their reach do so using neutral terms. Those who appear to think you shouldn't even have them around use hyperbole and emotional appeals.
Teach your kids well. When they find a gun, they are to not touch it, leave the room, and find an adult. That simply exercise could save their life.
