Got an email yesterday from the makers of a nifty little AR-15 accessory. It's the Tactilite, a .50 BMG conversion for the AR-15 rifle (www.tactilite.com). It's a single-shot, bolt-action .50 BMG upper that fits right on top of the standard AR lower.

Tactilite .50 BMG AR

Helooooooooo sexy! Let's look at some of the awesome features of this thing of beauty

  • It's a 50 BMG. I could stop here, but it keeps getting more awesome
  • It fits right on your existing upper
  • From the email I received, their midrange model was shooting +/- MOA this past weekend. Which is like 180° better than I can shoot.
  • Affordable way to get a .50BMG (especially while you can!)
  • It's a 50 BMG meaning it fires a projectile that is 1/2" wide and about a tenth of a pound. I mean, how cool is that?

And probably the bestest part of all

  • It's easy to buy- no paperwork, no waiting period.  You can even buy it directly off the 'Net and have it shipped to your house.

That's right kiddies. The lower of an AR is serialized, everything else is an accessory. You can not only buy one online and have it shipped directly to your door, but you will cause anti-gunners everywhere to plaster their boxers. Having fun and making Sarah Brady cry, what could be more American than that?

Now, I do have my issues with the company. I was all ready to offer my web design services in barter for an upper, but alas they've gone ahead and made a rather nifty looking site anyway without me. Bastards. However, it is a 50BMG, so I can't be too hard on them.

Of course I want one. I'd need to sell a kidney or two plus trade in one of the children first. I'd probably have to trade the other child just for ammo. But if the product works as good as it looks, it would be a fantastic way to get into the 50BMG platform.

So, go on over and give them a look-see. Just bring a bib.
