Using a gun to defend others from bodily harm, good

Seeing two people in a fist fight and shooting them both? Not so good.

There are idiots in the world, that's for sure.

That's the problem with defending other people. How do you know who to shoot?

If it's just me and an attacker, I know who to shoot. If it's two guys going at it like they're gonna kill each other, I'd be more inclined to go on about my business.

I'm fine with armed shop owners because they know who should be in their shop and who shouldn't be. I'm also fine with guns in the home. You know who belongs in your home and who doesn't.

I'm totally against CCW by people who aren't LEO trained. I'm completely against it. If the CCW people would go through all the training the LEO people do, I'd probably be okay with it -- but the way it is now? NO! Absolutely NO!

People with concealed carry licenses are not cops and are not expected to be cops.

If there was a big problem with CCW licensees indiscriminately shooting people, I think we would have heard about it in the last couple of decades.

Hm. I dunno. I guess I have to get "LEO Trained" before I would know how to react in those situations...

I am sorry, UBU52, but LEO training is simply not necessary for the vast majority of self-defense situations, and requiring it of CCW holders is simply stupid. The problem arises when people with firearms attempt to pretend to be LEOs... No mention is made of this guy having a CCW, but regardless of that point, he probably should not have involved himself in the situation, short of calling the police. Furthermore, I am willing to wager that the vast majority of CCW holders out there will agree that shooting these two folks was not the right course of action.

I should not have to take LEO training simply to defend my wife and I from aggressors. Concealed carriers are not LEOs, nor are they trying to be LEOs - they are just trying to keep them and theirs safe. And, when you get right down to it, despite your irrational disagreement with the situation, CCW is having a positive affect on crime in most states that have it, and CCW holders remain some of the most law-abiding citizens out there (even moreso than LEOs in some cases).
