Gun stuff I need
You need this
Figured I'd put my shopping list online so I can remember it easier.
Hoppe's #9.
Brake cleaner
10mm bore brushes
.45 caliber bore brushes.
cleaning patches that actually fit. I'm getting tired of trimming down what I have to fit the .22
brass catcher for the AR
6.8SPC brass
Fresh batteries for the
Crimson Trace
grips on the Para.
some sort of brushes that help get in all the nooks and crannies. The Mark III 22/45 is as bitch to clean.
a better range bag. Actually, a bag designed for the range rather than a sports bag I got from my last job.
an EOTech / Aimpoint for the AR. Barring that, some batteries for the POS red dot I have now. Damned thing is useless at night.

You can use .40 cal. bore brush for the 10mm.

Duh... ;)
I just need more of them. I'm on my last one and it's starting to look a little hinky.

Well, why'nt ya say so? I like the Hoppes Bore Snake for when I don't have to take down the entire gun for cleaning when a quick bore cleaning will do.

5.11 range bag is perfect. External mag holder compartment holds up to 10 double stacks or 20 single stacks and a pocket behind it holds the larger 33 round Glock / 9mm AR or 30 round AR mags.
I can usually fit 2 - 3 handguns, 500 rounds of 45, multiple glasses, hearing protection, tools, cleaning supplies and a bottle of water comfortably.
LAPolice gear seems to have the best 5.11 prices these days

May I suggest an AimPoint micro?

endless battery life, light - lets you buy LaRue mounts.

You may suggest it only if you could suggest someone who needs $560 worth of web work as well ;)

I've taken to washing my old T-shirts and tossing them on the cleaning bench. Sure it's a little more labor cutting your own patches, but you can make them any size you want, and the price is right!
We also had a bedsheet that tore on us (high threadcount sheets feel real nice, but they rip really quick!) so I have enugh patch meterial to last me until the end of times.
Oh and I use unscented tampons to clean my shotguns!

Tampax makes 12 gauge tampons?

I don't bother with patches in the bore of my 22s. The bore snake does the job just fine.
I just picked up MidwayUSA's range bag and it was great on it's first trip to the range yesterday. It easily held 3 handguns, 2 bricks of 22LR, 2 boxes of 9mm, a box of 38, about 20 various magazines, a bandoleer of garand clips, 2 pr earmuffs, stapler, sunscreen, bug repellant, multitool, a can of CLP, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. It's back to the $60 regular price, but I got it on sale for $40.
Xavier has a great review of the smaller version:
http://xavierthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/02/midway-usa-compact-competition-range.html
The larger one I have is very similar, except it has a pull out interior bag. I'm looking forward to trying it at the next IDPA match. I can put ammo and mags in the 'stage bag' and carry it around, while leaving all the other crap in the main bag in the car.

Hmm...the range bag looks almost like a bowling ball bag. I've got one of those lying around here and I'm sure I can adapt it for use as a range bag.

I recommend products made by this manufacturer:
http://www.condoroutdoor.com/136tacticalresponsebag.aspx
Their stuff is well constructed and very ergonomic. Check out all of their stuff.

Oh, I forgot to tell you...Cheaper Than Dirt handles a lot of their products. Their stock numbers are not the same as Condor's, so you have to look a bit to find them.

The bag GST pointed to is the one CTD sells as their 'bug out bag'. The Wife has one in coyote brown, and I liked it so much I bought one in black. I can't emphasize the high quality enough in regard to that bag.
We're using them as a bug-out bag; medical/first aid, a little food, ammo, small blanket, survival kit, etc. The quality exceeds the price we paid for them, and if I needed another small range bag, I'd sure get one for that purpose. On the other hand, I'll probably buy a couple more just because I can.
Regards,
Rabbit.

"I use unscented tampons to clean my shotguns"... Weerd has to earn that name :)
Still, I can't leave it at that... what if you have a 16ga/20ga/28ga/.410? Does Tampax make variety packs?

This company also makes some unique products, but they are kind of pricey:

"Tampax makes 12 gauge tampons?"
Yep. Well I use the non-name brand ones, but all you need to do is pop them out of the aplicator and stuff them down the bore. You can even flip them over and use them twice.

Don't get bore brushes, just get a damn bore snake.

Another fan of the MidwayUSA bags here. I have both versions. They're priced very resonably when on sale, and probably worth the full price when compared against other range bags (which often have ridiculous prices).
The smaller one works very well for a single person going to the range.
The larger one is HUGE. But it works well for weekend trips or when taking new shooters out and lots of different stuff is on the menu.
I'd like an EOtech XPS-0 myself. :)

Another vote for the Midway bags. I have two of the large and one of the small bags. They are excellent. Midway puts them on significant sale two or three times a year.
