So much for 'easy kill' weaponry

Gun Myths

'Fully automatic' gun fire and only 12 wounded? One of which was wounded by a car.

But, I thought guns made killing so easy? It's almost like you have to aim the things or something.

Hat Tip War On Guns who is probably correct that the 'fully automatic' thing is bogus.

Even if "fully automatic" isn't bogus, machine gun != everyone dies. You still have to hit them and unless you practice a lot it's not nearly as easy to hit things with a machine gun as Hollywood would have you believe.

It's repeated over and over that a gun causes instant death before the trigger is even pulled!!! There's no way that it takes proper aiming in order to cause damage. Don't you play video games or watch any Die Hard movies???

Your severely mistaken, the correct method is to spray fire from the hip, which does require one to pull the trigger. However, you are correct that regardless of the size of magazine, a machine gun will continue to spit out bullets as long as the trigger is pulled (and sometimes for a few seconds after). One thing we haven't investigated is whether these were lead bullets or the not as deadly copper bullets that California is in favor of. That could be why people were only wounded, no lead poisoning.

Florida gangbangers aren't getting enough practice time. That's the problem. On top of that, isn't it legal to use high capacity magazines in Florida? These guys have to be third stringers if they aren't hitting their targets.

Why have so many people moved towards AR/AK type weapons? What is wrong with the Uzi?

The gangbangers here that aren't centrally located in Miami don't get a lot of practice because Floridians can shoot back.

You can have 200 round drum magazines here in Florida. I've seen them for $40 at gun shows, so they're readily available and very inexpensive. And yet, we still don't have a problem with them. It's almost like magazine capacity doesn't really increase crime.

As far as the AR / AK systems vs Uzi, generally the Uzi is 9mm, an anemic round at best. I'm been at the range several times when people rent the Uzi. They generally end up sending 80% of the rounds into the floor / my target. Hard to control and the magazine is empty before you realize you've missed your intended target completely.

Here's a video that shows the truth behind 'assault rifles' and the high power myth. He uses, I believe, a Mac-10 in 9mm to illustrate how the menacing looks of the pistol does nothing to increase its power. Notice how the standard hunting rifle is vastly more powerful than even the AK patterned rifle (it's not a real AK, just something that looks like it). The point of this is to show that there is no truth behind the myth that the AKs are somehow more powerful.

What they are is cheaper and more readily available. The AK pattern is reliable so upkeep isn't as critical, thus 'hand me downs' work just fine. Uzis aren't as powerful, they're just ugly and menacing looking. Plus, it's possible the 'thug lifestyle' is glorifying the AK-clones for the same reasons anti-gunners want to ban them - namely they're very misunderstood and therefor have some sort of mystique about them.

Gangbanger bait is people who can shoot back. They prefer to rob/burglarize those who are armed too. That's how they steal guns. (If most guns used in crimes are stolen, they aren't guns stolen from non-gun owners.)

As someone else mentioned, you still have to practice, even if you are using an Uzi.
