Went to the doctor's office this morning to have my neck looked at. It was hosed, and like I expected, I was given little pills of pure happiness and contentment muscle relaxers. At this moment I'm as high as a kite, but I have to admit if my back / neck hurts, I don't care enough to notice.

Anyway, I stopped by Walgreens to fill my prescription for the wondrous, miracle euphoria pills and noticed that the entire parking lot was full of cops and news crews. My first thought was that I just missed some robbery / homicide type action, but that wasn't the case.

There had to be at least a dozen cops, if not more. In this picture, you can see 4 of them giving out tickets. Apparently, there's some new seatbelt law in effect today and it required massive effort to punish people for living their lives the way they see fit.

The great part of all this is that there is no criminal activities that need to be taken care of any more. We don't need the police patrolling neighborhoods or downtown. With all crime being taken care of, we can now focus on ridding the city of the scourge of people who make unsafe decisions.

Here in Florida, motorcycle riders need not don a helmet. That's a sensible lack of laws. If you wish to run the risk of exposing your brain matter to the asphalt, then that's your choice. But oddly the laws are not only that you are required to wear a seatbelt (something I do anyway. Have you seen the way I drive?), but that it is so damned important that we're going to spend an inordinate amount of taxpayer dollars having cops peek into windows trying to make a bust.

I feel so much safer now.
