80's Resurrection

On the IRC, I jokingly brought up bringing back Automan as a show. However, that made me think of a meme for you all.

What 80's show would you like to see redone and modernized?

None. The TV industry has no class. Sure you will get updated special effects, CGI or backdrops, you will also get a ton of new narrative (environmentalism, anti-guns [even more than in the 80s], favorite character morphed into the opposite sex and/or gay, etc.).

Besides a good portion of 80s television was actor driven. Could you imagine "The Fall Guy" without Lee Majors or "Simon & Simon" without Gerald McRaney (or the other guy) or "The A Team" without George Peppard, Dwight Schultz, Dirk Benedict and Mr. T? "MacGyver" fans would riot in anyone but Richard Dean Anderson was casted.

The Equalizer.

One of the great TV intros of all time.

I loved the character of Mickey Kostmayer: That's the way a spy would look like, not some moviestar who looks good in a tuxedo.

I can imagine The Equalizer without Edward Woodward, but Stewart Copeland HAS to do the musical for any new Equalizer series.

Of course, it needs to be PC-ified.

He's now a multi-colored (Aliens can't be BROWN) alien stranded from his homeworld of Melmac when his spaceship runs out of renewable bio-fuel. Instead of a hankering for cats in suburbia, he lands in an L.A. condo with two gay hispanic vegan women and their adopted son from Mogadishu. He continually eats all of the Weetabix in the house and fights for acceptance in a harsh world dominated by bigoted white males and a military that wants to capture him and carve him up in the name of homeland security!

Hilarity ensues. No really. It does.

I had to Google "80's TV shows" because I don't remember any real clearly. That was my post-college drudge-work and party phase, goign from day-labor to a stripper to Theater to Admionistrative dork.
A few I remember have morphed into entire repeat-genres of themselves - Crime Story brought Dennis Farina to the screen and he won't go away.
"My Two Dads" would be *awfully* different today, with Ellen DeGeneres probably playing one of them and Rosie O'Donnell the other...
A better question might be, "If you could go back in time what show would you kill mercilessly?"

I've seen the new "Knight Rider" and I liked it. Is there going to be another season or did they kill it?

They already did my first choice - Doctor Who - although it's not so much a remake as it is a continuation after a long hiatus.

Like kbiel said, most of the good shows in the 80's were carried by the actors - they just wouldn't work with anyone else as the main characters.
