I'm saddened at the head in the sand attitude. "If I just pretend there is no violence in the world and never show my child any danger, life will be fine". She's the kind of person who's world will fall completely apart at the first violent encounter she experiences.

My girls do not live in fear. My family is not afraid at all times. I do not walk around scared that someone is going to attack me. It is ironic that those who claim we're the fearful ones are the ones who peddle the most fear themselves.

The several responses to you illustrate perfectly the 2 types of thinking in America today.

Those who will be reliant on themselves and those who will depend on others for their well being.

There is no middle ground anymore. Come the Zombie Apocalypse, there will be a lot of feeding in her neighborhood. ;-)

The difference is I would never push a law requiring her to defend herself or her family. She (and her commenters) are perfectly happy to force me to be disarmed and vulnerable just like her.

Force me, as in using guns.

I wonder, if someone ran up to her and tried to steal her baby, would she be opposed to violence and stand by helpless, or would she do everything in her power to keep her child safe.

I think I know the answer. She likely believes in using violence even if she doesn't think she does.

It's good you point that out as guys like you and I are not any kind of threat to her at all.
