Welcome the newest member of the Sharp as a Marble Compound, Lizzie
Lizzie is a rescue dog. Her previous owners were active military and couldn't take her with them. She's approximately a year and a half old and is a hound mix. A lady I work with works with Lost Angels Animal Rescue and had posted a description of her online at work. She sounded perfect for our family – not quite a puppy, but still young enough to be trained, didn't mind cats, loved kids, and housebroken.
She's all of that and a bag of Beggin' Strips.
Her temperament is perfect. She's not excitable, so I don't have to worry too much about her running over iMac, something we have to watch out for because she's a medium sized dog at 45lbs. She doesn't nip or bite, so the girls could try to put makeup on her and she'd just sit there. Surprisingly, for a hound, she isn't very vocal. In fact, she only howled when she was put into her crate at night (and whoa… if you've never experienced a hound howling, it's something else). She quieted down after a few minutes, though.
Her original name is Giselle, but that simply didn't work for us (although the girls were simply enthralled with the name since it was the name of the princess in Enchanted), so we switched to something that kind of sounded similar. My choices of "Recoil", "Seven Six Two" & "Todd Jarrett" weren't well received.
I've been wanting another dog for a long time. The last dog we rescued simply did not work out for our family and we had to give her away. This one, in less than 24 hours, has already integrated in just fine.
