I thought the crooks were supposed to take the guns away from their victims.
Man wrestles gun from intruder in Pittsburg home invasion
The male homeowner said he was awakened and came out of his bedroom to investigate the noise. He said he was confronted by one man with a sawed-off shotgun and a second man with a handgun. He wrestled the shotgun out of the suspect's hand, and the man fell on him, he said. The second suspect then reportedly shot at the victim's wife but did not hit her. The male homeowner said he got up, recovered the shotgun, and began shooting in the direction of the suspects. They fled, he said, and he continued shooting as they ran across a neighbor's driveway.

Like I've said, I've watched plenty of people, standing perfectly still, miss a large poster sized piece of paper at 7 yards that wasn't even remotely threatening them at the gun range.
See, that's the thing. When you hear a bump in the night, you go to investigate it. Maybe the cat knocked the salt and pepper shakers off the table, maybe a picture came loose. All you know is something went bump in the night. How will you go check out the problem? What happens when it's not Mittens, but rather it's Thugton McSaggyPants the Third breaking in to kill you?
Will you be willing to defend yourself?
