You can institute a new rule. Comments only allowed if you're pantless?

Hmmm. No Pants Thursdays could be a new thing here...

I fear a pantsless comment rule as I mostly read your blog at work, and I have a hard enough time with the 2+2 as it is.
Instead you could tell me that it's OK that I just bought a shotty even though I was saving up for a .22 revolver.
On that same note - do you have any insight as to why .22 revolvers are priced like they're made out of platinum yet the autos are cheap in comparison?

4B, couldn't tell you. I've never even considered a .22 revolver so I've not looked at prices.
Still, it's perfectly fine to purchase a shotty.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender asks him "Why the long face?" The string replies "I'm a frayed knot."
Better?

Thanks. I feel much better now.
I'm considering a .22 for cheap plinking and for easing the wife further into fun-shootery. She has a S&W M64, so I thought that a .22 revolver of the K frame size might be ticket. I never have considered such a thing before either.
It appears that a Smith .22 costs roughly the equivalent of 3 .38s, which is odd.
It's sad that I consider this entertaining enough to post. It's what I was thinking about when your post popped up in the reader.

4B Smith&Wesson .22 Revolvers are expensive because they're worth it.
I have a 10-shot S&W 617 with 4" BBL, and after my 5" stainless 1911 it's my favorite gun. More accurate than I am, a really nice trigger right out of the box. Holds as many .22s as every other semi-auto I've looked at, easier to load up than most of the thin sheetmetal .22 magazines I've handled that tend to scuff up my thumbs....also I rarely shoot LESS than 150 round of .22 at a sitting, unless I'm just using it as a warm up for some more practical shooting.
Biggest plus? ZERO ammo favoriability. If you can fit it into chamber the gun will run. ZERO jams, a FTF means the ammo was bad, not the gun (tho the firing pin on my 617 is a LOT beefier than the other pins on my .22s so even on ammo where I find a 2nd strike is needs in 1 oe 2 out of 100, the 617 makes them pop near every time.
Also doesn't hurt that my wife has a preference to wheel guns, but also is very noise and recoil sensitive.
Still the VERY simple mechanical and intuative interface also makes this the first gun I'll hand a new shooter.
The WORST thing about S&W .22 Revolvers is good luck finding a used one. People buy these guns and NEVER let go. After setting my sights on one it took me about 2 years to find a used one at ANY price. Set me back about $400....still the amount of satisfiaction I have in it, I would be ashamed to have put down twice that amount for it.
My advice, you're onto a good thing, just save your pennies and grab one, and let your buddies at the shops know you're looking for one in case you luck out and somebody is dumb enugh to sell their used one.
If you want to hit the range sooner, you could probably find an H&R .22 revolver for short money, but you'll get what you pay for. They're cheap fun, but no ware near the quality of what Smith makes.
